Small earthquake shakes Maryland

SPENCERVILLE, MD—A small earthquake rattled Maryland this week, according to the United States Geological Survey. USGS reports that a 1.8-magnitude quake centered in Spencerville shook Montgomery County at around 11:30 p.m. on Monday night. The minor temblor had a depth of 5.9 kilometers.
