Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued for Wednesday in Baltimore area

BALTIMORE, MD—The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the Baltimore area. The watch will remain in effect until 10 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. Forecasters say quarter-sized hail, 65 mph wind gusts, and an isolated tornado are possible throughout the afternoon and evening hours. Residents should stay tuned to local forecasts throughout the day.

Lightning strike brings down tree onto power lines in Joppa

JOPPA, MD—An apparent lightning strike brought down a tree onto power lines in Joppa overnight. Earlier Thursday morning, crews from Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company responded to the 500-block of Trimble Road.
