Suspect charged in Carney shooting

Police in Baltimore County have charged a suspect in connection with Monday evening’s shooting in Carney that left a man injured.

Rasheed Isiah Cannon, 20, of the 6300 block of Eastern Parkway, 21214, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, a handgun violation, and related charges.

He is currently being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center.



Just after 6:30 p.m. on Monday, police responded to a home along Cody Avenue in Carney for a report of a shooting. When officers arrived on the scene, they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. He was flown to a local medical facility for treatment and is expected to survive.

An investigation has revealed that the suspect had come to Cody Avenue and was known to one of the people in the home at the time of the shooting. The suspect shot the victim during a robbery inside the home and fled the scene.

This incident remains under investigation by the Baltimore County Police Violent Crimes Unit.
