TOWSON, MD—An English language arts and reading teacher at Catonsville Middle School has been named Baltimore County Public Schools’ 2025-26 Teacher of the Year.
Brittany Jakubowski was among three finalists for the title who were honored Wednesday at a gala event celebrating the school system’s educators. Also celebrated were Kieran O’Connell of Franklin High School and Angela Berry of New Town High School, who were named 2025-26 BCPS Principal and Assistant Principal of the Year, respectively.
Jakubowski, a graduate of Perry Hall High School, has taught for 11 years, all in BCPS. She teaches sixth and eighth grade English and reading courses, including gifted and talented classes.
BCPS administrators, staff, students, TABCO representation, and Stephanie Gerhold of Woodlawn Middle School, the previous year’s recipient, selected this year’s BCPS Teacher of the Year. This year, BCPS schools, centers, and programs nominated 155 Teachers of the Year.
Jakubowski will now represent BCPS in the Maryland state Teacher of the Year program.
