Baltimore County officials announce weekend Earth Day activities

TOWSON, MD—The Baltimore County Department of Recreation and Parks has announced several Earth Day activities that will be happening this weekend.

Sunday, April 27, 2025 is the annual Earth Day Festival at the Baltimore County Ag Center and Farm Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This free, family-friendly event includes demonstrations and activities, a seed swap, plant sales, hayrides, games, vendors and animal encounters. The Ag Center and Farm Park is located at 114 Shawan Road in Cockeysville.

The public is also invited to join a worldwide science project tallying animals and plant species. The City Nature Challenge includes four hikes at Oregon Ridge Nature Center (13555 Beaver Dam Road, Cockeysville):

  • Birds on the Ridge Hike – Friday, April 25 at 1 p.m.
  • Evening Critter Count Hike – Friday, April 25 at 6 p.m.
  • The Amazing Nature Race – Saturday, April 26 at 10 a.m.
  • Spring Wildflower Hike – Sunday, April 27 at 9 a.m.

Participants will snap photos of plants and animals, and upload them through the iNaturalist mobile app to be compiled. Last year, participants worldwide observed more than 65,000 species. The results of this year’s survey will be announced in early May.
