80-year-old woman dies in Baltimore County house fire

EDGEMERE, MD—An 80-year-old woman died on Thursday in a one-alarm house fire in Baltimore County.

At just after 6 p.m. on April 17, 2025, fire crews responded to the 8900-block of Millers Island Boulevard in Edgemere for a report of a dwelling fire with rescue.

Units arrived and found fire coming from the rear of home.

Officers with the Baltimore County Police Department helped two residents exit from the rear of the home before the arrival of the Baltimore County Fire Department. Firefighters entered the house to search for a third resident who was reported missing.  She was found deceased in a bedroom.

The victim has been identified as 80-year-old Georgia Norris.

The home did not have working smoke detectors. The cause of the fire is undetermined, but improperly discarded smoking materials may have been involved. This is the second fire fatality in 2025.
