MIDDLE RIVER, MD—Senator J.B. Jennings on Tuesday announced the securing of $500,000 in Senate funding for the Bengies Road Sanitary Sewer System Extension project in Baltimore County. This vital infrastructure investment will significantly improve the quality of life for residents and enhance public health and environmental protection in the community.
The $500,000 allocation will go toward extending sanitary sewer services along Bengies Road, helping to replace aging or insufficient septic systems, and reduce the risk of groundwater contamination.
“This funding is a critical step forward for my district,” said Senator Jennings. “By extending the sanitary sewer system, we’re not only protecting our environment and waterways, but we’re also investing in the health, safety, and future growth of our community.”
The Bengies Road project (PDF) reflects ongoing efforts to modernize infrastructure and ensure that all residents have access to reliable, up-to-date utilities. Once completed, the extension will provide long-term environmental and economic benefits for Baltimore County.
“I thank Senator Jennings for securing this funding, which will ease the financial burden on residents who might have faced significant infrastructure expenses,” said Councilman David Marks. “This funding reflects exactly why the Baltimore County Council chose to pause the contract for this system.”
The funding was included as part of the state’s capital budget and demonstrates a continued commitment to addressing local infrastructure needs.
