ARBUTUS, MD—Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal three-vehicle crash that occurred overnight on Interstate 95.
The three-vehicle crash occurred at just before 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 along southbound I-95 at the I-695 interchange in Arbutus.
The driver of a Jeep Cherokee, whose identification is being withheld pending next of kin notification, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, a 50-year-old male, and a passenger, a 51-year-old male, of a dump truck, as well, as the driver of a Subaru, a 24-year-old female, were transported by ambulance to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries.
According to a preliminary investigation, the Jeep was traveling southbound when it struck the rear of the dump truck. The impact of that crash subsequently caused the Jeep to become stationary in a travel lane. Police believe the driver of the Jeep exited the vehicle and was subsequently struck by the Subaru, which also struck the dump truck.
All lanes have now been reopened.
The Maryland State Police Crash Team is leading this ongoing investigation.
