BALTIMORE, MD—The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will start several paving projects on state highways within Baltimore County this week. All projects are weather permitting and some projects may have to be rescheduled due to inclement weather.
The following projects include asphalt or concrete pavement patching and resurfacing:
- MD 45 (York Road) from the Baltimore City Line (Gittings/Walker Avenue) to Stevenson Lane: The one-mile, $536,000 asphalt pavement improvement project along northbound and southbound MD 45 begins as soon as tomorrow, Tuesday, April 8. Crews will work at night, Sundays through Thursdays, 8 p.m.-5 a.m. Barrels, arrow boards and cones will guide drivers through the work zone. The project should be completed by the end of the month.
- Eastbound US 40 (Pulaski Highway) from Ebenezer Road to Allender Road: The one-third mile, $171,000 concrete patching project along eastbound US 40 will be performed on two weekends, beginning this weekend: April 11-14 and April 25–28. On Thursday there will be an overnight lane closure, 9 p.m.– 5 a.m. followed by a weekend-long, continuous single lane closure on eastbound US 40 between 9 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday to allow for removal, replacement and curing of sections of concrete pavement.
The weekend dates are weather permitting and will be rescheduled for the next possible weekend if necessary. Portable message signs will be posted on US 40 prior to the weekend work. Barrels, arrow boards and cones will guide drivers through the work zone.
- MD 140 (Reisterstown Road) from I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) to Milford Mill Road/Slade Avenue: The one-mile, $417,000 asphalt patching project along northbound and southbound MD 140 will begin on or after Monday, April 21, and should be completed by mid-May. Crews will work at night, Sundays through Thursdays, 8 p.m.-5 a.m. Barrels, arrow boards and cones will guide drivers through the work zone.
Contractor Gray and Son, Inc. of Timonium will perform the paving work at all three locations.
Motorcyclists are urged to be aware of uneven pavement surfaces during the projects. The State Highway Administration’s contractor for these resurfacing projects is Allan Myers of Dover, Delaware.
The State Highway Administration is reminding drivers to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits as well as other traffic pattern changes.
