Celebrating Women’s Achievements: Baltimore County seeks nominees for Women of the Year awards

TOWSON, MD—The Baltimore County Commission for Women is searching for deserving individuals to honor with its annual Women of the Year Awards. Now in its 43rd year, the awards ceremony recognizes women across various categories for their exceptional contributions to the community.

Nominations are open until 4 p.m. on Monday, April 28, and the commission encourages residents to nominate women who inspire them. Baltimore County Executive Kathy Klausmeier, a former vice president of the Commission for Women, said, “The Women of the Year Awards honor trailblazing women across Baltimore County who have contributed to their communities, championed the needs of women, served as role models, and enhanced the lives of county residents.” She added, “These awards are dear to my heart, and we’re thrilled to invite residents to once again nominate the incredible women who make a difference in our lives and inspire us every day.”

Awards are presented in four categories: “Woman of the Year,” “Young Woman of the Year,” “Woman Making a Difference,” and “Woman Entrepreneur of the Year.”

The “Woman of the Year” award recognizes a woman who has made significant and lasting contributions to the community, championing the needs of women and families, serving as a role model, and enhancing the lives of Baltimore County residents.

To be eligible for the “Young Woman of the Year” award, nominees must be high school seniors attending a Baltimore County school. They should demonstrate exceptional leadership and have made a significant impact on their school and community through volunteerism.

The “Woman Entrepreneur of the Year” award honors a woman who demonstrates qualities such as mentoring others, contributing to community-oriented projects, and overcoming challenges.

The “Woman Making a Difference” award recognizes a woman, including college students, who has made a significant impact on the community through volunteer efforts.

Nominees must have lived in Baltimore County for at least three years. Previous winners and elected officials are ineligible. Winners will be celebrated at an awards ceremony in late spring.
