Marylanders with disabilities to hold action night in Annapolis to protest budget cuts

ANNAPOLIS, MD—Marylanders with disabilities will hold an action night in Annapolis on Monday to protest Governor Wes Moore’s proposed budget cuts.

The “These Are Our Lives” action night is organized and led by people with disabilities who will draw from their own lived experiences.

On Monday night, March 3rd, people with developmental disabilities will come together to share their personal stories and highlight the profound impact that the proposed DDA budget cuts will have on their lives.

The proposed $457 billion budget cuts threaten to take away critical supports that over 18,000 people with developmental disabilities in Maryland rely on. These cuts could dismantle the support systems that many depend on for a life of dignity and hope.

The event will take place 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 3, 2025 at the Maryland House of Delegates, located at 6 Bladen Street in Annapolis (21401).

Attendees will migrate to State House to appeal to legislators as they are scheduled to go into session.

Among those in attendance will be Mat Rice, executive director of People on the Go Maryland, and Ken Capone, policy director, The Arc Maryland.
