MIDDLE RIVER, MD—A Rosedale man and a Middle River man were convicted of murder on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 in connection with a shooting death that occurred in Middle River in 2022.
Deandre Antoine Wright, 21, of Rosedale, and Demetris Tyron Hollis, 20, of Middle River were each convicted by a Baltimore County jury of first-degree murder, robbery, and weapons charges.
On November 12, 2022, officers with the Baltimore County Police Department were called to the 9900-block of Berliner Place in Middle River. There, they discovered the body of 42-year-old Tyran Caulk, who had died as a result of eight gunshot wounds to his head, chest, arm, and thighs.
An investigation determined that there had been an arrangement for Deandre Wright and Demetris Hollis to meet Caulk at the location where he was shot and killed. Multiple shell casings were found at the scene and were attributable to three different ghost guns which were recovered during the investigation. Authorities were also able to develop evidence through video, eyewitness accounts, and cell phone tracking. Wright and Hollis were 18 and 19 years old at the time of the murder.
“The proliferation of guns in the hands of young people in our community is a matter which must be strongly addressed,” said Baltimore County State’s Attorney Scott Shellenberger. “We can see, here, the tragic results of this problem. I am thankful for the result of the case and hopeful that this sends a strong message to those who may think of picking up or using a gun”.
Sentencing has been set for May 23, 2025. Each defendant faces a maximum possible sentence of life without the possibility of parole plus 40 years.
