NOTTINGHAM, MD—Cathryn Beichley, a Nationally Certified School Psychologist, has been named 2025 School Psychologist of the Year by the Baltimore County School Psychologists’ Association.
A Baltimore County Public Schools employee since 2006, Beichley is currently assigned to Martin Boulevard and Pot Spring elementary schools. Both schools recommended her for this recent honor, citing her wealth of knowledge, collaborative approach, creativity, leadership, data-driven recommendations, and communication skills.
Nicole Alexander Hall, a school counselor at Pot Spring Elementary, wrote, “Mrs. Beichley is beyond knowledgeable in her areas of expertise. Her ability to explain assessments, eligibility, and parental rights as it related to the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process is unlike any other school psychologist that I have worked with before. The way that she is able to break down the (at times) overwhelming amount of information to parents is truly commendable. Because of her, parents leave our team meetings with a full understanding of their child’s strengths and deficits, and because of her empathetic ways are truly hopeful and believe in our team’s ability to help close their child’s gaps.”
In a joint recommendation letter, Danielle Cirincione, IEP facilitator at Pot Spring Elementary, and Stacey Durkovic, assistant principal at Martin Boulevard Elementary, added, “Not only does Mrs. Beichley provide her expertise to help our students, she is also a patient listener for staff who need support. Working in a school is a challenging career, and she knows this firsthand. She has developed a strong rapport and a place of respect with the staff, so they feel comfortable speaking to her when they need support.”
Beichley earned a master’s degree in school psychology, as well as a Certificate of Advanced Study in school psychology, from Towson University.
