Long Green Volunteer Fire Company set to place first ambulance into service

GLEN ARM, MD—The Long Green Volunteer Fire Company, Inc. (LGVFC) has announced that it will soon  place its first-ever ambulance, Ambulance 385, into service. The event coincides with the company’s 95th anniversary and will take place at 5 p.m. on February 25, 2025. Once totally in service, Ambulance 385 will enable LGVFC to have significantly improved response times to those needing immediate emergency services.

“We are incredibly proud to be placing our first ambulance in service on such a meaningful day,” said President Amy Eyre. “This addition will allow us to better serve our community and enhance emergency medical services in Baltimore County and surrounding areas through mutual aid agreements. It is an honor to lead this organization at such a historic moment, and I am grateful for the dedication and hard work of our volunteers and supporters who made this possible. I am also thankful for the collaboration between Long Green Volunteer Fire Company, the Baltimore County Volunteer Firefighters Association, and the Baltimore County Fire Department to help make this possible today.”

The introduction of Ambo 385, a 2023 RAM-5500 4X4 Ultramedic Pass-through, which was designed and produced in conjunction with Atlantic Emergency Solutions and Road Rescue, Inc., represents a significant expansion of LGVFC’s emergency response capabilities, reinforcing its commitment to serving the citizens of Baltimore County and the surrounding areas. This much-needed asset to the Baltimore County Fire Department was made possible through the Assistance to Firefighters Grants Program, administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Adding to the historical significance of this occasion, LGVFC is celebrating this achievement under the leadership of its first-ever female president, Amy Eyre. With over 20 years of official service as a member of LGVFC, Amy has dedicated her life to the organization, continuing a family legacy that spans four generations. Her great-grandfather, John F. Burk, served as LGVFC’s first Secretary during its incorporation on February 25, 1930.

President Eyre also wishes to extend her heartfelt gratitude to the extensive list of members who worked tirelessly on securing the grant that funded this ambulance, as well as those who contributed to the design and production of Ambulance 385. Their dedication and commitment have been instrumental in bringing this project to fruition.

Members of the public and local officials are invited to attend the ceremony at the Long Green Vol. Fire Company, located at 4506 Long Green Road, Glen Arm, MD 21057, to witness the dedication of Ambo 385 and celebrate the fire company’s 95 years of service to the community.
