BALTIMORE, MD—February tends to be a wintry month in the Baltimore area and this year looks to be no exception, as forecasters say three winter storms are looming on the horizon.
The first event will occur late Wednesday night and into Thursday morning as an ice storm seems set to bear down on Maryland.
The National Weather Service says the precipitation may begin as snow before 4 p.m. on Wednesday, then change over to sleet and ice into Thursday morning. Ice accumulations of 0.1 to 0.2 of an inch are possible.
On Thursday morning, rain and freezing rain will likely mix with sleet before 7 a.m., then change to rain or freezing rain between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m., before changing to all rain after 10 a.m.
A second system on Saturday could bring a little more snow followed by sleet and ice, and a third system in the middle of next week should be mostly snow with some sleet and ice mixed in.
Residents should stay tuned to local forecasts.
