Parkville resident claims first $50,000 top prize in Maryland Lottery’s MONOPOLY Game

PARKVILLE, MD—A Parkville man is a very happy player, celebrating his newfound status as the first person to scratch off a $50,000 top prize in the Maryland Lottery’s MONOPOLY X20 game. The game from the Maryland Lottery and licensed by Scientific Games, LLC. Is a member of a family of MONOPOLY scratch-offs and went on sale January 13th.

A longtime Maryland Lottery enthusiast, Roshan Khatri has played scratch-offs for six years and won enough to keep the fun going. One evening in January, the Parkville man’s his luck took a thrilling turn when he stopped at JP’s Bar, located at 528 South Bouldin Street in Baltimore, to pick up an energy drink and a few scratch-offs. Drawn to the MONOPOLY X20 instant ticket, he decided to give it a try.



His $5 purchase turned into an unforgettable moment when he scratched and scanned the instant ticket, revealing the incredible $50,000 prize.

“I was stunned,” Roshan said. “I left the store quickly and started figuring out how to claim my prize. I kept it a secret until the day I came to claim it, bringing a friend along for security.”

As for how he plans to spend his windfall, Roshan said he is still considering his options. “I have no idea how I’ll spend it, but I’m just excited to get my winnings.”
