MIDDLE RIVER, MD—The Middle River area needs its own library branch, says Fifth District Councilman David Marks, and he has formed a task force to build support for one.
“Middle River residents should not have to travel to White Marsh or Essex for a public library,” said Councilman Marks this week. “That’s why I have been pushing for a branch of the Baltimore County Public Library in this area, and why we formed a task force that will build support for a branch leading into budget deliberations.”
Members of the task force include local business leader Dave Conrad as chair, along with local residents Tamara Gunter, Michele Gugliotta, Chris Hinkle, Melissa Ledford, Anthony Leonard, Josh Sines, and Michael Thomas, as well as Baltimore County Board of Education member Julie Henn.
Given fiscal constraints, the task force will consider creative ways to deliver a library to the Middle River area as soon as possible.
“Libraries are not just a place for reading and researching, but also quiet public spaces – and Middle River should have one,” Councilman Marks concluded.
