BALTIMORE, MD—Behind Sunday’s snowfall, the coldest air mass the Baltimore area has seen in several years is settling in.
The National Weather Service has issued a Cold Weather Advisory for the Baltimore area. The advisory will be in effect from 7 p.m. on Monday, January 20 until 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.
The overnight low will be around 9 degrees. Very cold wind chills as low as 5 degrees below zero are expected overnight. The cold wind chills could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken.
Tuesday night’s low will be around 7 degrees and Wednesday night’s low will be around 9 degrees. The high temperature on Wednesday is only expected to reach 18 degrees.
Forecasters say residents should use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Keep pets indoors as much as possible.
Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, food, and unfrozen water.
Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside.
