Winter Storm Warning issued for Sunday in Baltimore area

BALTIMORE, MD—The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Sunday in portions of Baltimore County.

The warning will be in effect from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on January 19, 2025.

Heavy snow expected throughout the area. Total snow accumulations of between 3 and 6 inches are expected in northern Baltimore County and accumulations of 2 to 3 inches are expected in southern Baltimore County and Baltimore City.

Travel could become very difficult during the storm. The hazardous conditions will impact travel. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

Forecasters say snow will overspread the area Sunday morning and continue through the afternoon before tapering off during the evening hours. Snowfall rates could approach 1 inch an hour at times.



If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5-1-1.

Residents should delay all travel if possible. If travel is absolutely necessary, drive with extreme caution and be prepared for sudden changes in visibility. Leave plenty of room between you and the motorist ahead of you, and allow extra time to reach your destination. Avoid sudden braking or acceleration, and be especially cautious on hills or when making turns. Make sure your car is winterized and in good working order.
