BALTIMORE, MD—Maryland has a new pair of lottery millionaires. The married Anne Arundel County couple say they went a little nuts when they realized that had won $1 million via the Millionaire’s Club scratch-off game.
“There’s an important day in our lives that we celebrate by buying each other a handful of scratch tickets,” the husband told Maryland Lottery officials. “I added Millionaire’s Club to the tickets I bought for her because of the million-dollar prize.”
When all the instant tickets were scratched, the couple scanned each using his Maryland Lottery app, which revealed the big prize.
The new millionaires, one a nurse and the other a federal employee, report that the scene in their living room that night was a fun one.
“Neither of us could believe it. We were yelling, pacing around the room, bumping into each other, bumping into furniture. It was chaotic.”
When they finally caught their breath, they checked and rechecked and scanned and rescanned the $20 scratch-off until all doubt was removed.
The opening scene of this story took place at Wegmans grocery, which is located at 1413 South Main Chapel Way in Gambrills, where he purchased half of the celebratory instant tickets.
