BALTIMORE, MD—The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Maryland as a massive system approaches the region.

The warning will be in effect from 10 p.m. on Sunday, January 5 through 1 a.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2025.

Forecasters say heavy snow is expected, with total snow accumulations between 5 and 9 inches.  Some pockets of 10 to 12 inches are possible in isolated spots if heavy banding sets up in this area.

Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning and evening commutes.

A second round of heavy snow is possible Monday evening before precipitation ends.

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5-1-1.

Baltimore County Department of Public Works and Transportation officials say snow removal crews say they are ready for the storm.  To get real-time updates on your community, click here.
