BALTIMORE, MD—Three people were arrested and five car rallies were prevented from happening across Maryland on New Year’s Eve thanks to a joint task force, according to the Maryland State Police. The rallies planned roadway shutdowns and disruptive car-related activities in industrial areas, public streets, and parking lots across Prince George’s County, and Baltimore.
Members of the Maryland Car Rally Task Force were out from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. looking out for illegal car rallies. Police said the task force dismantled four large-scale illegal exhibition driving events and prevented five others from forming in Baltimore County, Howard County, Montgomery County, and Prince George’s County, as well as in Baltimore City.
Two of those three people who were arrested were charged with possessing stolen firearms, which were found at an event that was shut down around 12:30 a.m. on Konterra Drive and Schweitzer Lane in Laurel. After shutting down the event, Maryland State Troopers tracked vehicles to the 6900 block of Van Dusen Road and charged the following: Adin Carr, 20, of Rockville, and a 16-year-old juvenile were charged with possession of a stolen firearm and other firearm-related offenses. Carr also had multiple outstanding warrants, police said.
The third person who was arrested, Aberon Alem, 23, of Bowie, was charged with fleeing and eluding and other traffic-related offenses after he got into a vehicle and fled from troopers who were trying to stop a pedestrian. Troopers later located the vehicle in the 13600 block of Baltimore Avenue in Beltsville.
