JOPPA, MD—A GoFundMe has been created for Courtney Butash and her son after they experienced a house fire that killed Butash’s father on Christmas morning.
At just after 6:45 a.m. on December 25, 2024, firefighters responded to a house fire in the 200-block of Doncaster Road. Upon arrival, crews found the single-family home with significant fire and smoke visible. The fire was controlled in 30 minutes, and 36 personnel were on the scene. During a subsequent search of the home, they located a deceased male, identified as Roger Butash, inside the home.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
A GoFundMe has now been established to help the family. From the GoFundMe page:
Early on Christmas morning, Courtney and her son faced a nightmare as they awoke to find their house engulfed in flames. While they managed to escape, tragically, Courtney’s father and animals did not survive the fire.
More than $13,000 had been raised as of Thursday afternoon.
