BALTIMORE, MD—Maryland State Police say four juveniles and an adult were arrested and charged with stolen vehicle and firearm offenses following a car rally in Baltimore City over the weekend.
Police said a joint investigation between partner law enforcement agencies and the Maryland Car Rally Task Force led to the arrests of the four juveniles. The Baltimore County Intelligence Unit, Prince George’s County Criminal Enforcement Division, Regional Auto Theft Task Force, Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division, and Special Operations Division aided the task force.
According to authorities, the task force dismantled a total of 10 large-scale illegal exhibition driving events throughout Baltimore City, Baltimore, Anne Arundel, Howard and Prince George’s counties from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. Saturday, November 30, 2024.
Five arrests were made, four of which were juveniles, police said.
According to authorities, all five arrests were made at an event in the 5100 block of Park Avenue in Baltimore, where 300 people and vehicles shut down the roadway for exhibition driving and disorderly conduct.
Maryland State Troopers and Baltimore police officers responded to restore order, according to authorities.
During the event, police said they stopped a silver Nissan 350Z in the 4400 block of Park Heights Avenue and charged the driver, identified as 18-year-old Josue Emanuel Hernandez Cordon of Laurel, with reckless, aggressive and negligent driving, along with other traffic-related offenses. He was also investigated for possession of a replica handgun, according to authorities.
Police said they also saw a stolen Nissan 370Z in the area and issued a lookout for the vehicle. The Baltimore Police Department recovered the vehicle after the driver bailed out and fled, according to authorities.
Officers also found a stolen black Camaro SS that four juveniles, ages 15-17, tried to flee from in, police said.
According to authorities, two firearms were recovered from the juveniles along with the stolen vehicle, which police believe was used in other car rallies and possibly an armed robbery in Washington, D.C. Follow-up investigation ongoing.
The Maryland Car Rally Task Force is comprised of the Maryland Department of State Police, Maryland Transportation Authority Police and police departments from Prince George’s, Baltimore City, Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Howard and Montgomery counties. This collaboration remains vital to addressing illegal exhibition driving across regions.
