NOTTINGHAM, MD—Baltimore County Councilman David Marks is a sponsor or cosponsor of two bills that will benefit military or law enforcement officials.
Bill 91-24 expands the type of National Guard service for which a county employee may receive toward their years of service. Currently, county law specifies that service must have occurred as a member of the Maryland National Guard; this extends the scope beyond Maryland. Councilman Pat Young is the primary sponsor of this legislation, with Councilman Marks as cosponsor.
Bill 98-24 extends a local property tax credit for disabled law enforcement officers to members of the Maryland Transportation Authority Police. Councilman Marks is a cosponsor of this legislation.
“We would like to thank Councilman Marks for working for safer communities,” said David Rose, president of Baltimore County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 4.
“MDTA police put their lives on the line everyday, and we thank Councilman Marks for standing with us,” added Jim Kruszynski, president of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 34 (Maryland Transportation Authority Police).
“As elected officials, nothing is more important than supporting our military and improving public safety,” Councilman Marks concluded. “Thank you to all who serve and who have served.”
The Baltimore County Council will vote on the bills on December 2nd.
