Red Flag Warning issued for Friday in Baltimore area

BALTIMORE, MD—The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for the Baltimore area.

The warning will be in effect from noon until 6:00 p.m. on November 8, 2024 due to gusty winds and low humidities.

Forecasters say winds will be from the west at 10 to 15 mph with gusts of up to 30 mph. Relative humidity will be as low as 24 percent.

The combination of dry conditions, low humidity, and strong gusty winds may result in favorable conditions for the rapid spread of wildfires.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.

An outdoor burn ban remains in effect for the Baltimore area.
