Suspect arrested following shooting in Harford County

ABINGDON, MD—A 41-year-old man is in custody after being charged in a Monday afternoon shooting in Abingdon.

At just after 4:00 p.m. on November 4, 2024, deputies with the Harford County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 3500-block of Woodsdale Road in Abingdon for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a 27-year-old male victim who had sustained a gunshot wound to the lower body.

The victim was taken to a local trauma center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives identified the suspect as Justin Matthew Schlotterbeck, 41, of Aberdeen. An arrest warrant was obtained by detectives charging Schlotterbeck with attempted first-degree murder and other charges related to the shooting.



Deputies were able to locate Schlotterbeck inside his of vehicle, parked in front of his residence. He was taken into custody without incident. During a search of the suspect vehicle, detectives located and seized a handgun that had been disassembled. Schlotterbeck was transported to the Harford County Detention Center where he is being held without bond.

Authorities believe the two parties were known to each other.
