BALTIMORE, MD—The Maryland Department of the Environment has issued a Code Orange Air Quality alert for the Baltimore on Monday, November 4th.
The Code Orange is being issued due to wildfires that are raging in the area of Aberdeen Proving Ground.
“APG Fire, Aberdeen Test Center, and the Maryland National Guard are currently monitoring a range fire within the testing area of the installation,” APG officials said on Sunday.
“While smoke is visible from several areas, there is currently no threat to the surrounding community,” APG added. “APG personnel are taking all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of personnel, residents, and the surrounding communities.”
A Code Orange Air Quality Alert means that air pollution concentrations within the region may become unhealthy for sensitive groups. Sensitive groups include children, people suffering from asthma, heart disease or other lung diseases and the elderly.
The effects of air pollution can be minimized by avoiding strenuous activity or exercise outdoors.
