Red Flag Warning issued for Baltimore area on Friday

BALTIMORE, MD—The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for the Baltimore area.

The warning is due to low humidity and gusty winds, and will be in effect until 6:00 p.m. on Friday, November 1, 2024.

Forecasters say winds will be from the west at 15 to 20 mph with gusts of up to 30 mph.  Humidity will be as low as 24 percent.

The combination of dry conditions, low humidity, and strong gusty winds may result in favorable conditions for the rapid spread of fires and wildfires.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
