BALTIMORE, MD—Police in Maryland say they successfully dismantled six unlawful exhibition driving events over the weekend, arresting multiple people and seizing a stolen car.

Members from the Maryland Car Rally Task Force, working with the Maryland State Police Special Operations Division and allied police agencies, responded to various locations in Prince George’s and Anne Arundel counties on Saturday night, where up to 350 participants were gathered in parking lots, attempting to shut down intersections, according to authorities.

Officers responded to the following locations at the approximate times:

– 11:15 p.m.: 12011 Indian Creek Court, Beltsville

– 11:30 p.m.: 4392 Nicole Drive, Lanham

– 11:50 p.m.: 6000 Columbia Park Road, Hyattsville

– 12:35 a.m.: 2060 Brentwood Road NE, DC

– 1:01 a.m.: 2384 Brandermill Road, Gambrills

– 1:25 a.m.: 2300 Craftsman Circle, Hyattsville

Police made arrests and charged additional participants from prior events. They also recovered a stolen Chevrolet Corvette during the operation.

Shakari Prue, 21, of Jessup, faces charges of disorderly conduct, exhibition driving, and other traffic-related offenses.

Anthony Sandoval, 19, of Parkville, faces charges for disorderly conduct, rioting, and illegal fireworks possession and discharge.

The Maryland Car Rally task force, established in June 2024, focuses on investigating and addressing exhibition driving events, commonly known as ‘takeovers,’ where participants block public roads for dangerous stunts, disrupting traffic, causing property damage, and posing risks to the public.

The task force utilizes increased patrols in identified hotspot areas and conducts comprehensive investigations to identify and charge those involved.
