35-year-old pedestrian struck & killed in Essex

ESSEX, MD—Police are investigating after a pedestrian was struck and killed in Essex on Wednesday.

At around 7:30 p.m. on October 23, officers responded to a crash involving a pedestrian in the 1000-block of Eastern Boulevard (21221).



A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2023 Kia was traveling westbound when it struck the pedestrian, who was attempting to cross the street just west of Old Eastern Boulevard.

The pedestrian, identified as 35-year-old Edward Ryan, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Kia sustained minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. This case is currently under investigation.
