State Highway Administration to upgrade traffic barriers along Route 40 in Middle River

MIDDLE RIVER, MD—The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will upgrade concrete traffic barriers along US 40 (Pulaski Highway) between MD 700 (Martin Boulevard) and Middle River Road in the Middle River area of Baltimore County beginning Thursday, October 24. The $1.2 million traffic safety enhancement project will be complete early spring 2025, weather permitting.

Beginning at 9 a.m. Thursday, contractor and subcontractor crews will work to remove and replace sections of traffic barrier and barrier end treatments along this section of US 40, with temporary through lane and intersection turn lane closures in effect where needed Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and overnight Sunday through Thursday between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. the next day.



The State’s contractor, L. S. Lee, Inc. of York, PA, and subcontractor Priority Construction Corp. of Baltimore will perform the work this fall and winter.
