Councilman Marks pushes for state funding at three local corridors

NOTTINGHAM, MD—Baltimore County Councilman David Marks has urged state officials to prioritize funding for three corridors in anticipation of the Consolidated Transportation Program meeting in Towson on Monday.

The CTP meetings are held in each county as the state contemplates a long-term transportation program.

“First, the construction of an eastbound connection from Philadelphia Road to White Marsh Boulevard is critically important,” Councilman Marks wrote. “Every day, there are bottlenecks in this area because this vital connection was never constructed when White Marsh Boulevard was extended in 2006. The White Marsh Volunteer Fire Company considers the completion of this project of vital
importance in providing emergency services.”

“Second, we support funding to improve safety on Belair Road in Kingsville near New Cut Road,” Marks continued. “A citizens’ task force worked with the State Highway Administration (SHA) to identify improvements that should be advanced in the CTP. We also urge SHA to continue to work to improve safety on this route.”

“Third, we implore SHA to continue to work toward improvements along the Eastern Avenue corridor. This has been a top priority also for Senator Jennings and Delegates Nawrocki and Szeliga. The future of Martin State Airport is also important to the region.”

Councilman Marks thanks the state for its consideration of these critical requests, and to his partners Senator Jennings and Delegates Nawrocki and Szeliga for their support as well.
