Cyclist killed in Towson crash

TOWSON, MD—Police are investigating after a bicyclist was killed in a crash in eastern Towson.

At around 9:45 a.m. on September 20, 2024, officers with the Baltimore County Police Department responded to Taylor Avenue near Collinsdale Road (21286) for a motor vehicle crash involving a bicyclist.



Detectives determined that the bicyclist was traveling eastbound on the sidewalk of Taylor Avenue and struck the front of a 2017 Ford Taurus that was exiting a nearby driveway.

The Baltimore County Fire Department transported the bicyclist, 76-year-old Edward Files, to an area hospital for treatment.

On October 13, Edward Files was pronounced dead due to injuries sustained from the crash. The operator of the Ford remained at the scene.

Detectives with the Baltimore County Police Crash Team continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this crash.
