Two-alarm Essex apartment fire leaves 18 displaced, firefighter injured

ESSEX, MD—Crews responded to an apartment fire in the Essex area overnight.

At just after 12:30 a.m. on October 11, units responded to a fire in the 1400-block of Hadwick Drive (21221).



Arriving personnel found that three apartments were on fire. A second alarm was sounded and several people were rescued.

The blaze was brought under control by around 1:15 a.m.

Eleven adults and seven children have been displaced and are working with the Red Cross according to the Baltimore County Fire Department.

One firefighter was transported for minor injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
