Ten Harford County schools on modified lockdown due to police investigation

JOPPA, MD—Ten Harford County schools have been placed on a modified lockdown due to an ongoing police investigation in the area, officials say.



The Harford County Sheriff’s Office is reportedly searching for a person in crisis in the area, causing the modified lockdown to go into effect.

The ten schools affected are:

  • Deerfield Elementary School
  • Edgewood Elementary School
  • Edgewood High School
  • Edgewood Middle School
  • Joppatowne Elementary School
  • Joppatowne High School
  • Magnolia Elementary School
  • Magnolia Middle School
  • Old Post Road Elementary School
  • Riverside Elementary School

When schools are on modified lockdown, classes continue as usual but no one is permitted to leave the building.
