Councilman Marks sponsors bipartisan bill to advance technical trade school in White Marsh

WHITE MARSH, MD—Baltimore County Councilman David Marks on Tuesday announced that he is sponsoring legislation—endorsed by all seven Council members—that would allow for a technical trade school in White Marsh.

Plumbers and Steamfitters UA Local 486 is seeking to repurpose the arena at 5811 Allender Road in White Marsh, which will require a legislative change.

“I am delighted to support this change which will help train our next generation of laborers and provide good jobs for men and women in Maryland,” said Councilman Marks. “Local 486 has an outstanding record and this is common sense legislation we should embrace.”

“The Plumbers and Steamfitters UA Local 486 has provided highly trained and qualified licensed journeymen in the HVAC and Plumbing field for over 120 years to our signatory contractors to serve the State of Maryland. We are very excited to have the opportunity to expand our training program with a new facility in White Marsh, and we are grateful for the leadership of Councilman Marks and the support of the entire Baltimore County Council,” said Pasquale Petrovia, the union’s business manager.

All seven Council members of both parties are sponsoring the bill.

“This bill will not only advance an important training program, but will improve an area that is showing some signs of deterioration,” added Councilman Marks.
