Arrest made after two BCPS schools placed on lockout status due to social media threat

DUNDALK, MD—Police in Baltimore County have arrested an 18-year-old in connection with a school threat that was made on Thursday morning.

At around 9:30 a.m. on September 12, officers began to investigate an online threat that appeared on social media. As officers investigated the matter, Dundalk High School and Sollers Point Technical High School were placed on a lockout status.



“It is important that everybody, including students, understand the ramifications of making threats, whether they are true or not,” the Baltimore County Police Department said in a statement. “Making threats can have serious legal consequences.”

“The Baltimore County Police Department continues to remind all students, parents and staff to report any suspicious or threatening activity,” BCoPD added. “Threats can be reported to school resource officers or school administrators. Information may also be provided through the Safe Schools Maryland app.”

The Baltimore County Police Department investigates all school threats in collaboration with Baltimore County Public Schools.

The suspect in this case has not been identified.
