Shooting reported at Joppatowne High School

I{DATE 7: A suspect has been arrested, charged, and identified.

UPDATE 6: The 15-year-old victim, Warren Curtis Grant, has died. The suspect and the victim knew each other, according to a letter from the school system.

UPDATE 5: Police say a 15-year old student is in serious condition after bring shot in the chest during a dispute in a school bathroom.  A 16-year old male suspect is in police custody and will be charged as an adult.  Area roads near the school will remain closed for several hours.

UPDATE 4: Harford County has opened its non-emergency information hotline, 410-838-5800, for parents/guardians looking for information about their students at Joppatowne High School.

UPDATE 3: Unconfirmed reports indicate that the incident stemmed from an altercation, which escalated to a stabbing and then to a shooting.



UPDATE 2: The reunification center for parents to pick up their students is Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, located at 622 Joppa Farm Road.

UPDATE: The Harford County Sheriff’s office is advising that this is an isolated incident and that there is no active shooter at this time.

JOPPA, MD—Authorities are responding to a reported shooting at Joppatowne High School.

The incident was reported at approximately 12:45 p.m. on Friday, September 6, 2024.

One person has reportedly been shot and is being flown to a trauma center by Maryland State Police Aviation Command.  Students are currently being evacuated.

Joppatowne High School is located at 555 Joppa Farm Road.  Motorists should avoid the area.

No additional information is available at this time.  This is a breaking update.
