WHITE MARSH, MD—A Baltimore County woman is still celebrating a $50,000 scratch-off win that she considers an early retirement gift. The White Marsh player scratched off a $50,000 prize on the $10 Ultimate Cash game.
The anonymous player, who selected the nickname “Chris” to share her story, is a longtime Lottery fan who favors Keno. She decided to change up her routine while at the 7-Eleven located at 8235 Perry Hall Boulevard in White Marsh/Nottingham and purchased two Ultimate Cash scratch-offs on a whim. When she got home, “Chris” handed one scratch-off to her husband and kept the other for herself. As they both began scratching, the loyal player quickly realized that her ticket was a big winner.
“I was in shock, absolutely stunned,” she recalled. “Winning never really seemed possible, but I’ve always enjoyed playing. This makes it worth it.”
After verifying her win, “Chris” celebrated and shared the exciting news with her husband. She didn’t waste any time in booking her appointment at Maryland Lottery headquarters to claim her prize.
The timing of this windfall couldn’t have been better because she plans to retire in October. She sees this unexpected win as a gift that will provide added security as she enters the next chapter of her life.
While “Chris” has been cautious about sharing the news with others, she did tell her sister about her windfall. Her plans for her $50,000 prize include putting most of it into a retirement account and helping her children financially.
When asked if she plans to continue playing the Maryland Lottery, “Chris” smiled and said, “Sure! But I must admit, I’m a bit more optimistic about winning again after this.”
