DUNDALK, MD—An overnight house fire in Dundalk sent six civilians to area hospitals, officials say. Fire crews responded to the 3000-block of Dunleer Road (21222) at around 3:45 a.m. on Wednesday, September 4 for a report of a dwelling fire. Arriving units found fire visible from the first floor of the home.
Crews began search and rescue efforts after being told that a child was still in the home. They located an 8-year-old male suffering from life-threatening injuries. The child was treated on scene by EMS personnel and transported to an area hospital. An adult male and four additional children escaped the fire with minor injuries and were transported to local hospitals by EMS.
During search efforts, crews also rescued nine cats and two dogs from the home. In total, the fire displaced seven residents.
Baltimore County fire investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
