WHITE MARSH, MD—Baltimore County Councilman David Marks on Wednesday announced that he will recommend downzoning large properties in the Darryl Gardens area in White Marsh to limit future development and preserve open space.

The issues are 5-099, 5-100, 5-101, 5-103, 5-104, 5-105, and 5-107.

The changes would lower the intensity of development on 30 acres of residentially-owned property to DR 1, and classify 15 acres as Neighborhood Commons, or open space zoning. Nearly 60 acres of Gunpowder Falls State Park would be rezoned to RC 7.

“With these changes, we are acting to preserve green space and limit development throughout the Darryl Gardens area,” said Councilman Marks.

The County Council will vote on the zoning map on August 27th.
