Councilman Marks proposes protection of 370 acres near Hammerman Beach

MIDDLE RIVER, MD—Baltimore County Councilman David Marks on Wednesday announced that he will recommend that 370 acres of the peninsula south of Hammerman Beach be downzoned to RC 50. This is Issue 5-154, part of the Comprehensive Zoning Map Process.

The RC 50 zoning is among the most restrictive in Baltimore County.

“Gunpowder Falls State Park and nearby areas are among the most beautiful places in Baltimore County,” said Councilman Marks. “This new zoning will provide further protections for eastern Baltimore County and all who enjoy the waterfront.”

Josh Sines, president of the Essex-Middle River Civic Council, thanked Councilman Marks for his work to limit development in sensitive areas. “Our organization appreciates Councilman Marks’ ongoing work to protect the beaches, woods, and rivers along the Eastside.”

The Comprehensive Zoning Map will be adopted by the County Council on August 27th.
