Baltimore grandmother wins $100K lottery prize

BALTIMORE, MD—A Baltimore grandmother received a surprise $100,000 prize after she purchased a scratch-off card at a convenience store in Dundalk.

The grandmother, who lives in northeast Baltimore, was on the way home with her granddaughter when they stopped at the Carroll Mart located at 220 Wise Avenue in Dundalk for gas and snacks last week.

While there, the pair played the $30 $100,000 Ca$h game and the grandmother snagged a $100,000 top prize.

“I was shocked because it said ‘Congratulations, you’ve won $100,000,'” the grandmother said.

She then told her granddaughter not to draw any attention to the winnings and suggested they leave the store quickly.

“I said to her, ‘Let’s go,'” she told Maryland Lottery officials.

The grandmother and her granddaughter returned home and the grandmother put the winning ticket in a safe place.

The grandmother said she plans to use the winnings to pay bills and save for the future.
