NASA Wallops rocket launch to be visible in Maryland on Tuesday

BALTIMORE, MD—A rocket launch at NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility will be visible in Maryland on Tuesday morning.

The RockSat-X mission launch from Wallops on August 13, 2024. The launch window opens at 6:00 a.m. EDT.

The Terrier-Improved Malemute rocket will carry student-designed experiments to suborbital space. The experiments were developed by nine university and community college teams as part of NASA’s RockSat programs.

These experiments include instruments to gather atmospheric measurements, study greenhouse gases, test a space-rated robotic arm, measure electron density, and much more.

Portions of the Mid-Atlantic region, weather permitting, may catch a glimpse of the rocket in the sky.

A livestream of the launch will be available below on YouTube.
