Vacant property in White Marsh goes up in flames

WHITE MARSH, MD—A vacant property that was on Baltimore County’s demolition list went up in flames overnight.

At just after 11 p.m. on Monday night, August 5, firefighters were dispatched to a vacant home on Carrington Drive near Hamilton Place (21162).

Emergency personnel arrived to find the home engulfed in flames. It took crews several hours to control the blaze, and excessive overgrowth hampered firefighters’ efforts.

Councilman David Marks and the White Marsh-Cowenton Community Association had been pushing for the home to be razed since July 2023.  It was No. 3 on Baltimore County’s demolition list, according to Councilman Marks.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
