Councilman Marks endorses zoning change to support church in Middle River

MIDDLE RIVER, MD—Baltimore County Councilman David Marks on Wednesday announced that he will support a zoning change that will allow the Redeemed Christian Church of God – Life Center to continue operating at its campus at 9750 Bird River Road (Issue 5-076) in Middle River.

By changing the zoning from CB to RO, the church will be in compliance with the Baltimore County Code.

“I first met with this congregation two years ago, and was enormously impressed with their energy and engagement with the community,” said Councilman Marks. “I believe government should allow for houses of worship to flourish wherever possible, as long as they are in the right locations. This clearly is, and should have the zoning needed to operate.”

“On behalf of the RCCG congregation, Middle River, I appreciate Councilman Marks’ work with us on this zoning change that will allow our congregation to continue to be a force for good in the community,” said Pastor Mrs. Eunice Olorunfemi.

“It is a common knowledge among the diverse group in the District that Councilman David Marks continues to engage all with the interest of our community at heart,” added Dr. Hakeem Tijani. “He is an uncommon leader of our time on the well being of the residents, particularly on the zoning matter.”

The congregation’s members have many ties to Africa, and it has been an important force for those from that area relocating to Baltimore County.
