Troopers rescue dog left unattended in hot vehicle

COLLEGE PARK, MD—Maryland State Police rescued a dog that was left unattended in a hot vehicle on Tuesday.

Trooper Shane McGregor, assigned to the Aviation Command, assisted the College Park barrack with a reported dog left in a hot car on the shoulder of I-495 near the Baltimore-Washington Parkway on July 16th.

Once on scene, troopers observed a dog left unattended in a vehicle with the windows rolled up and vehicle shut off. The dog was showing signs of heat exhaustion and needed immediate care. The dog was removed from the vehicle, given water, and placed in a cooled patrol car.

After a few minutes, the dog started to perk up and showed signs of improvement. The dog then enjoyed exploring the inside of the police cruiser while Animal Control was contacted.
