Man arrested after shots fired on Bay Bridge

ANNAPOLIS, MD—A man from Anne Arundel County was arrested Wednesday for shooting at the driver of a black Jeep on the Bay Bridge in June, the Maryland Transportation Authority announced in a press release.

Melvin Clark, 41, of Severn, was charged with first-degree assault, reckless endangerment, driving a vehicle while impaired by alcohol and other charges, MDTA police said. Clark was taken into custody and taken to the Jennifer Road Detention Center in Queen Anne’s County.

The shooting occurred at about 11:45 p.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2024. Clark, the driver of a black Jeep, was accused of firing multiple shots toward a silver Mitsubishi while driving recklessly across the westbound span of the Bay Bridge. After he got out of the car, Clark pointed a gun at the driver of the other car.

After an investigation, MDTA police were able to identify Clark as the suspect in the shooting. An arrest warrant was obtained, and Clark was arrested Wednesday morning.
