EASTON, MD—A person has died after their plane crashed into the Tred Avon River on Tuesday morning, Maryland State Police said in a news release. The victim’s identity has not yet been released.
The crash was reported at just after 9:30 a.m. on July 16, police said. A twin-engine Cessna took off from Tipton Airport at Fort Meade before crashing into the river. Witnesses said they saw the crash happen.
The plane is believed to have been headed toward Easton Airport at the time of the crash.
A person was recovered from the water and taken to the shore, where they were pronounced dead. The person’s identity will not be released until next of kin can be notified.
